In Owls, we asked 'What does a Superhero needs to be super?' Perfectly timed, our potatoes (from Grow Your Own Potatoes) were ready to be harvested. Owl class had helped plant the seed potatoes in March, earthed them up as they grew and watered them when they were dry.
The children were excited to harvest and helped trim down the stems, before gently exploring the soil with their hands or trowels to find each perfectly formed potato! We gathered a good bowlful, and these were boiled by Ms Street before the children each had a go at chopping a potato, adding our homegrown chives and a little dollop of mayonnaise! The children chose what to put in their healthy homegrown potato salad and most devoured their bowl! The children agreed; fresh and homegrown tastes super enough for Superheroes!
